We are thrilled to announce that Luke Bailey, a remarkable athlete and an inspiring figure in the world of wheelchair racing, will be joining us as an ambassador at this year’s Hunter Disability and Workability Expo.
Luke’s journey began at the age of 12 when he was introduced to wheelchair racing. From that moment, he was determined to compete at the Paralympic Games. Through years of relentless hard work and participation in numerous competitions, including prestigious events like the World Para-athletics Grand Prix in Switzerland in 2018 and 2019, Luke’s dedication finally paid off.
A proud Newcastle local, Luke achieved his lifelong dream by competing at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. His journey did not stop there, as he went on to compete again at the Paris Paralympic Games in 2024, showcasing his incredible talent and perseverance on the world stage.
Born with caudal regression syndrome and spina bifida, Luke is hoping for all attendees to learn something new at this year’s event, “It’s a great event to help teach and educate everyone on what’s really going to make a difference in people’s lives. This is a good opportunity for people to learn more.”
Now 27 years old, Luke is eager to share his experiences and inspire others with his story. At the expo, he will take to the stage to motivate and encourage attendees, embodying the spirit of never giving up. “I always say, never take ‘no’ for an answer,” Luke shared. “I’ve always grown up hearing that I can’t do things but look at me now—I’ve been to two Paralympics and I’m hoping to become a four-time world champion this year.”
Join us at the Expo to hear Luke’s incredible story and be inspired by his unwavering determination and positive outlook. We are honoured to have Luke as an ambassador and look forward to the impact his story will have on all who attend.
