The Just Live Hunter Disability Expo will once again come to Newcastle on Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27. Established by Carly Stewart and Chantelle Robards in 2017, this year the duo have partnered with 4community and the NDCO program to bring the event back to the Newcastle Jockey Club in Broadmeadow.
“With Newcastle being one of the first NDIS trial sites, there has been so much growth locally, and opportunities for people have expanded rapidly,” says Just Live founder from Beyond Boundaries Rehab Ms Stewart.
“The Expo was born out of a vision to showcase these opportunities, looking beyond therapy and day-to-day service provision. The Hunter Disability Expo was created to bring together these essential services into one place; where people can come face-to-face with innovative new products and service providers whilst being inspired by the opportunities available within the wider community that enable us to ‘just live‘. For me, the program is the heart of the expo and really what brings it all together.”
This year, the Hunter Disability Expo includes interactive workshops and many new things to try out. This includes drumming workshops, virtual reality experiences, beach-access wheelchair test-drives, Star Wars training, bootcamps and all-age entertainment. Check out the website for more information.
Combined with a fantastic line up of expert presenters, including well-known disability advocate Natalie Roberts–Mazzeo (Miracle Mama), this year’s Expo features the best the local hunter disability sector has to offer.
“It’s truely inspiring!” says Ms Stewart.
